PokerStars.fr is the largest regulated poker room in France by a wide margin — roughly 60% of the ANJ-licensed market — and shares its player pool with PokerStars.es (Spain) and PokerStars.pt (Portugal) under the ESPT shared-liquidity treaty.
That cross-border pool is the real differentiator versus Winamax: instead of relying on French traffic alone, PokerStars.fr taps into three national player bases at once, giving it deeper cash game liquidity and bigger tournament fields than any purely domestic French site can match.

From My Own Play
PokerStars.fr shares its Zoom tables with Portugal and Spain — but only up to NL100 — so at those stakes the pool is much bigger than France alone. Regular tables are French-only.
I haven't played here in about ten years, so I won't pretend to know the current games in detail, but every French room follows the same pattern: a closed market, weaker regulars, and a better ratio of recreational players to pros than the international pool. For a French player who wants deep Zoom traffic at small stakes, it's the obvious choice.
