Entain (partypoker & bwin)
Entain is the FTSE 100 gambling group behind partypoker, bwin, and a long list of other betting and casino brands — poker isn't its main business anymore, but it's the corporate umbrella that owns and runs it. partypoker was long one of Europe's largest independent poker networks in its own right; as of late 2025 it has migrated its liquidity onto the iPoker platform, so the brand, promotions and client look have stayed the same for players while the underlying player pool now sits inside that wider network.
The roots here go back to 2011, when PartyGaming — the original operator behind partypoker, one of the biggest names of the early online poker boom — merged with bwin to form Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment. That merger put two major poker brands under one roof for the first time.
In 2016, GVC Holdings won a bidding war against 888 Holdings and acquired Bwin.Party outright for £1.1 billion — a deal that roughly tripled GVC's scale overnight and, crucially, handed it an in-house tech platform to run everything on. partypoker and bwin Poker have shared that lineage — and largely the same corporate ownership — ever since.
In 2020, GVC Holdings rebranded entirely to Entain, positioning itself around regulated markets and a more sustainability-focused, compliance-first strategy rather than the gray-market expansion of its earlier years. Entain today owns partypoker, bwin, and dozens of other betting and casino brands worldwide — poker is just one piece of a much larger group.
