WPT Global

WPT Global is the online poker room that carries the World Poker Tour name. It is a standalone operator on its own software rather than a skin on a shared network, and in the space of two years it went from launch to one of the three busiest cash-game rooms in the world — built on recreational traffic from Asia, Brazil, Canada and the non-regulated corners of Europe.

The room was announced at ICE London and went live in April 2022, run by an independent company based in Cyprus under licence from WPT's owner. It is a separate business from the live tour and from ClubWPT, the US sweepstakes site; the brand is shared, the player pool is not. The current operating licence comes from the Tobique Gaming Commission, after an earlier period under Curaçao.

What set it apart was speed. By 2024 it was tracking around 2,300 seated cash players at peak, helped by a client aimed squarely at recreational players: 4% rake, a ban on HUDs and trackers, a four-table cap, Short Deck and PLO alongside Hold'em, the Pace Poker fast-fold format, Global Spins, and a constant stream of satellites feeding the $40 million guaranteed WPT World Championship.

That growth brought the problems that come with it. The room runs a machine-learning "ecology" system that can label winning regulars as professionals and cut them off from external rakeback, and it has spent much of 2024 and 2025 publicly fighting bot rings — banning accounts and redistributing confiscated funds, though not always to the satisfaction of the players who reported them. It is a very soft pool with a management style you want to understand before you move volume there.
